Well, I think Betty has officially softened me. This book was totally cheesy, but a very easy and pleasant read, although nothing I would have read a year ago (pre-Betty). Garth Stein certainly knows how to play at peoples' heartstrings, even if his writing is not earth-shattering. I was angry for Denny, frustrated for Enzo, and definitely cried at the ending. Very cute book and certainly a very easy read (I plowed through it in half a day at Sunapee). Recommend to dog owners and dog lovers alike.

Mikie Gillmore It's so good!

Bridget Well, I figured now that I have a dog...

Kathleen Get to it! You will love it!

Heather So should I be glad we did NOT read it for book club, since I am neither a dog owner nor lover? (except for yours, of course)

Bridget Not necessarily, I think there were some interesting talking points regarding the relationship with Denny (the dog-owner) and his wife, daughter, and in-laws.

Heather It's still on my to-read's just pretty low. I'll get to it someday...although not if the Game of Thrones series has anything to say about it! I am really liking the GoT books but they are really long! They may take up the next several months!!

Kate Have you read The Story of Edgar Sawtelle? Another one that's pretty heartwrenching for dog owners/dog lovers
