liked it
bookshelves: young-adult
Read in January, 2012

The good:
* Taran's and Rhun's character development was particularly well done
* I enjoyed learning more of Eilonwy's background
* The book contained more of the same delightful mix of humor and adventure that characterized the first two books.
* The animals: Kaw and Llyan.

The not-so-good:
* The plot itself wasn't as gripping...while I certainly cared about Eilonwy's fate, the author could have done a better job of raising the stakes.
* Eilonwy's absence from much of the book created a void which the new characters weren't able to adequately fill (Rhun was fine, but neither Glew nor Magg really resonated with me)

Overall, still very enjoyable and still highly recommended.
