really liked it
bookshelves: american, fantasy, fiction

An all round solid and often delightful YA origins novel about Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince. I loved how focused on female friendship it was and how the two other main girl characters were of colour (and one queer to boot!). (Actually the boys are POC too). It felt very feminist and centred on girls sticking up for each other which I loved. Great character development, humour, and a focus on empathy and compassion as forms of heroism.

I wanted a little bit more of something from this, and am not quite sure what exactly, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, I believe there is a slight nod to WW's bisexuality when she tells a human guy who was assuming he was her first kiss that "he wasn't her first anything." Maybe on the page bisexual WW is what I want?!
