One of my all-time favorite stories from childhood. The tried and true narrative of a boy who adopts a wild animal and must face difficult choices when it grows up never gets old for me. The love between the boy and the bear is so intense, and the trouble the bear causes is so outrageous. This is a wonderful example of pictures telling the story.

This sounds like the plot of "The Yearling," except it was a deer rather than a bear, and it took place in Florida.

Sarah Yes, very much like The Yearling!
