I actually read this before the original, and in all, I quite enjoyed it. I'm used to graphic novels, so the exaggerated features didn't bother me, but I think I would love to read the original soon and get my own visuals on the situations.
I chose to read it because I had always been told how great of a book Artemis Fowl was by all my friends and teachers. (I've only read the first chapter of the original) I think the graphic novel is best suited as a support to the text version, but it was cool to see how the technology looked and worked. I also liked the visuals because they gave it an adventurous and dark feel.

Violence: Fight scenes and one where a troll is beaten by a chain ball.
Language: Yes, but very seldom.
Sex: There is a scene of the elf in the shower. Vitals covered by steam and hands. It's a small picture and the rest is clean.
Drugs and Alcohol: None
