really liked it
Read from February 04 to 19, 2012

** spoiler alert ** Not as good as the first book, but the ending pretty much pays for all the dry parts and not-so-interesting love triangle, although, really, an epilogue would have been nice, you know? The ending was so tense my shoulders actually hurt from reading it.

The main characters were all very well written. I'm particularly impressed with the author's insight regarding Dela. This book and the one before it will always have special meaning to me because of its unique, positive portrayal of a transperson. Not seen nearly enough in genre fiction.

The fact that Ido reverts to type sort of makes me sad, because it reinforces the idea that people cannot changed (or even be changed). In real-life, yes, I agree. In fantasy...I really wish it would turn out otherwise just occasionally.

Overall, very good book.
