really liked it
bookshelves: mystery, read-in-2018, series

These are really engaging! A mix of Sherlockian deductive reasoning, some Dickensian humor and gritty realism, and dry wit. I like that the mysteries aren’t easy to solve, and that solving them is the focus of the novels. I really like all of the characters, but their qualities are illustrated through their responses to the plot rather than just conversation. Looking forward to more.
