it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, fiction
Read from January 06 to 07, 2012

As a person with self-proclaimed selfish tendencies I loved this book and it's exploration of how we can miss what is wonderful about our own life and person while worrying about what everyone else has. I didn't find her self-pity to be a turn-off in a "Bella of Twilight" kind of way. More of a "hormones are raging and I feel like I can't get in control of myself/my life"

In particular I liked:

Her sexual awakening (without any weird stuff happening), though this is a reason I wouldn't recommend this book to pre-teens. I think you'd need to be past this stage to handle this part of the book.

Our slow realization that Wheeze's view of her sister might not really be reality

This idea of leaving home, romanticizing it, and finding home again
