A good piece of historical fiction, The Other Boleyn Girl follows Mary Boleyn, Anne's sister, from Anne's return from the French court until her death. Mary's story is classic - girl meets boy who happens to be the very crazy Henry VIII, falls in love, becomes the mistress of the King of England. Her sister, Anne, ever-manipulative and jealous of Mary, steals Henry and the crown. Both women are victims of their father and uncle who both wish for power and money and will use their daughters to get it. Classic tale, engaging and fast-paced. I liked that I wasn't sure if I liked any of these characters. Although it gets easier to like Mary, she is not smart and is powerless in a society ruled by men and a crazy king. I will read the next one.
