Caldecott Honor 1952

Favorite line:
The music for dancing was lovely. There was an according that went
a triangle that went TING, TING
a guitar that went PLINK, PLUNK
and a big horn that went, POOMPF,
POOMPF. It was a wonderful party.

Favorite illustration: When the bears are all in their costumes dancing in a big circle.

Kid-appeal: I liked that this was part of the growing trend to have a better balance of text to illustrations, thus making it not as long. I liked the soft-focus illustrations and thought they were sweet and whimsical. This story about a group of squabbling koala bears that learn to get along was a bit odd in my opinion, but I'm sure it will have its fans.
