's review

it was ok

I've enjoyed Rebus novels over the years but this one just didn't come to life for me. I think it's because after all this time I still don't have a clear picture in my mind of detectives Clarke and Fox, Rebus' supposed successors as protagonists after his retirement. And Rebus constantly turning up and interfering in their work just makes him seem a bit sad. Can't he get a hobby?
