This is so well-told that you just want to keep reading and find out what will happen to the family that 'adopt' a chimpanzee for a science experiment to see if it can be taught to do sign language. But what will happen if the project fails or ends? Can the family just get rid of the chimp who has become so much of the family? Really believable and emotional. Also dealing with coming of age, family arguments and treatment of animals for experiments. A great read.
