it was amazing
bookshelves: read-2018

I don't even have words for how much I loved this.

I was a little unsure how I was going to feel about a Sanderson Sci-fi since I've only read fantasy books from him. But, I shouldn't have worried; Skyward blew me away. I read this in two sittings because I simply could not put it down.

I loved Spensa as a main character. She's angry and brash and utterly determined to sit in a pilots seat regardless of any obstacles are thrown her way. You can't help but be indignant for her - the tragedy and unfairness of her life. She feels real and well rounded. And her arc and character growth are so satisfying to watch.

This story is also full of so many other great characters. I loved her friendship with Rig, her contentious relationship with Jerkface, and her mentor/mentee relationship with Cobb was so endearing. Not to mention my all time favorite fictional AI M-bot and the ever delightful Doomslug.

This is a story where the stakes are high. And the plot twists will keep you guessing. But, its just so much fun to read.

I officially have a new favorite Sanderson.
