it was ok

I had a couple ladies recommend Francine Rivers to me...I wish I would have sampled her with a shorter read, but this was a 5 novella super book that strung together historical fiction about 5 females from the Bible. Although I enjoy learning history and imagining life for these characters this book seemed like it was basically the same woman repeated throughout each of the stories (minus the Virgin Mary, who she doesn't describe at all). I felt like it was sexist...the women were ALWAYS choking back a sob, tears burning in their eyes, cheeks red with emotion. It was hard for me not to argue mentally I don't know any women who are like that or would act like that in those situations, but then it really was terrible to be a woman in Old Testament (and New Testament) times. I'm not going back to a Rivers book again, I don't think...just not my cuppa tea.
