Thinking, Fast and Slow
Paul Mullen's review
Dec 31, 2011
I often get good ideas for books to read when my sister- and brother-in-law come by. This is one from one of those visits. The topic was fascinating. It is a rigorous scientific exploration of the ways we think: Intuitive/reactive/pattern-sensitive and analytic/careful/slow. In short, we cannot live without our intuitive minds, but our analytic minds often see reality more clearly. The thesis and examples are good, but I got bored by the exhaustive scientific evidence he brings to bear on the topic. It wasn't hard to grasp, just too much of it for an avocational reader like me.
