Recently several books for which I had high expectations disappointed me. I love Connie Willis' work, and this one has been recommended highly. I hope that I will not have just jinxed my enjoyment thereof....

And no, it didn't disappoint me. Following the dreams' historical clues intrigued me. The animal details, especially Traveller, satisfied me. Although I did kind of lose the point of the dreams here and there, all in all I enjoyed this one,

Josephine I think if you like Willis' work generally, you'll like this one; it's more like Bellwether than the Oxford time travel books, though.

Debra Well, I enjoyed Bellwether....

Meg I liked this one not just for the story, but because a lot of it is in Fredericksburg! Even the circular staircase at the main library!

Debra So when he is in the library, it is the *real* library? Cool.

I think that Connie Willis makes my shortlist of authors whom I'd like to be seated with at a dinner.

Meg YES, it's our HQ library! I don't know if she ever actually visited or not. I'd like to hang out with Connie Willis - a dinner might be intimidating, but beer and pizza? I'm there!

Debra Interim report... I am about a quarter finished, and loving it. My background in period military history I think helps because I have been picking up on some of the clues before they're explained.
