Wow! How can a young 18 year old high school student who has lived such a crappy life still manage to be an A student & have some hope for the future. I have nothing but admiration for Kat (Katherine), her determination, her kind heart. She has endured the unimaginable, a disastrous family life, has very little money, works part-time for extra cash & then studies for her classes. Amazing! Yet at 18, she is sometimes immature. Well who isn't!
Then she meets someone.
Gavin is a kind soul, calm, accepting & oh so lovable. If I had met someone like him at 18, I would have been done. My search would have been over. Lucky you Kat.
Or so we thought.
This was so beautifully written. In my opinion, it's a very daunting task to develop characters that readers can completely relate to & connect with. Laura Lee did just that. My heart ached for these two because you could always see trouble coming their way & yet their troubles made the story.
This is a stand-alone with a HEA. No loose ends. A wonderful book!
