Excellent light-hearted entertainment. This time, Irene and Kai are off to... America! There are rumors that another Librarian has violated the Library's carefully maintained neutrality and gotten sucked into the royal intrigues of the dragons. Now Irene and Kai need to meddle without seeming to meddle, rescue the Librarian, and walk a metaphorical tightrope between dragons and Fae. Things build to a fever pitch and it's up to Irene (as usual) to save the day. Great fun to read, despite the unrealistically unrelenting pace (apparently the whole book takes place over two days?!) and some continuity failures (e.g., Irene sprains her ankle bad enough to limp around and then, a few pages later, apparently forgets about it and strides off). Also, disappointingly, detective Vale barely appears in this book. However, definitely worth reading, and I can't wait to get on to book #5 :)
