really liked it
bookshelves: dystopia, leisure, mystery, philosophical, romance, science-fiction, ya

I'm not sure I liked this as much as Uglies, but it was a solid installment in the series. The reader learns a little more about the society she lives in and while Westerfeld doesn't totally avoid the ubiquitous YA love triangle--one of them's a pretty boy, the other is rough around the edges--Tally comes off as pretty... not exactly likeable but likeably and realistically flawed. I didn't hate her or anything and she was less annoying than in Uglies. The book was a super-quick and captivating read.

Oh also Hunter would want me to mention that Westerfeld's usage of the phrase "gained purchase" or "found purchase" etc is way too much. But I don't find it that distracting.
