The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)

I loved this book to bits. As if the plot wasn't wholly satisfying enough, the ending, despite the book's obvious placement as 1/3rd of a trilogy, offered a sense of completion and that is something to appreciate.
Skaa, Allomancers (Mistings and Mistborn) , Terrismen, Obligators, Inquisitors and the Lord Ruler - these are some of the breathing components of the Mistborn universe. The chain of events that takes an underdog from the bottom to the top of the pyramid is by no means a new concept and yet the way the plot is woven is so smooth never gives you that sense of cliché. There are all the elements that makes a story compelling - wins, losses, failure, victory, loyalty, betrayal and a resolute undertone of perseverance.
