really liked it

Beautifully written, atmospheric novel about marriage and grief. Also very strange, diffuse. Mostly set in Cuba, and the country is rendered in lovely ways. So much precision of language. The ending... doesn't quite work for me, or, better put, I did not understand the ending. I admire the amount of work that went into this book--lots of interesting stuff about horror movies. Fascinating novel.

Kyla Doll Nice! I’m waiting for this one from Amazon!

Jenna Always love your reviews! Thanks!

Eilonwy I didn't understand the ending at all either. :-(

Kyla Doll It was really well-written, but I didn’t understand the ending either!

McCarthy Writes The kind of head scratcher that leaves one rereading the last third again and again. Nice to read a story regarding the loneliness, shock, and moments of joyful solitude one gets from traveling in strange places from a female author.

Beth I didn’t understand the ending either. Yes, her style is unique and it’s certainly unusual, but I felt annoyed at the end- it was a waste of my reading time so luckily it was not too long. I kept waiting for a story to appear out of the fog.
