Is a somewhat sexually charged description of what can happen to girls without secure father-figures. It also has a very high yuppie rating (8 out of 10--for vineyards, names and years of wines, very "open-minded" people having lavish parties in Napa Valley with fresh herbs and gouda.) So why the 3?: It is loaded with truth. The ending is hopeful. The girl (Daisy) gives adults some insights into the teenage brain--which is a terrifying place. Sue Miller can take-on every character's point-of-view with an astouding expertise.
