Another great book by John Bogle - a champion of the individual investor. Investing giants like Warren Buffett and David Swensen back Bogle's claim that indexing is the easiest route to investment returns that beat the vast majority of other strategies.

The only fault I have with this book is Bogle's continued demonization of exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Bogle doesn't like ETFs because he feels that investors will be tempted to mis-use them or to day trade them, versus the buy-and-hold long-term investing that he espouses.

The fact is ETFs used correctly can deliver the same desireable results as traditional index mutual funds.
