This was a good book, entertaining, with a good story that kept me glued to the pages wanting to know what happened next.
It had the added value of being set in Barcelona, which is so close to me, during the Spanish Civil War, that made me learn a bit more about the period.

What did not work for me? The plot twist in the end between Carax and Penelope, for me it wasn't original or interesting, the fertility of the spanish teenagers is amazing, and the timeline was sometimes difficult to follow.

In the end, I think I was expecting a flawless book due to so many raving reviews, and was somehow disappointed.

It was a great book, but not an amazing one.
