I found this short novel to be a poignant story about a very vulnerable 15 year old girl who is "sent off" to a boarding school after a tragic accident involving best friends.
As a graduate of a girl's boarding school in the 60's, I could totally identify with the setting (both the school and the town surrounding the school). The school I attended had no male teachers at the time so the #metoo incidents described in "His Favorites"do not resonate with me but are certainly believable. I think Walbert nailed the depiction of the Headmaster and the students at the school.
Why do "we" allow girls/women to be so trivialized? Why do we sweep allegations and confessions under the carpet?

This book is worth an afternoon to read and ponder.
