Sophie takes care of her three younger siblings, because her drug addicted mother is never home. Carter, her next door neighbor, takes care of his mentally ill mother. They each support the other, and just knowing the other one is there makes their lives bearable.

This was a fantastic short story. I wish there had been more of it. I was a little worried at first because the chapters switch between Carter's and Sophie's point of view, and that style can get choppy. I didn't need to worry. The switch in perspectives is seamless and smooth. The characters reach out and grab you right away. The romance was fantastic. I would love to see more of their story.
