Told entirely through playlists, YouTube links, photos and other images, Chopsticks is unique. It seems like a love story on the surface, but clues in the last 1/3 indicate something darker and sadder might be happening. I noticed the F and G references and some other clues, but I think I need to reread it and look at the phone app.

Provocative and complex.

Abby I picked up this book at a bargain bookstore because of your interesting review and really enjoyed it. I agree that you need to do a reread because the ending totally changed the whole meaning of the book. It is my understanding that Gloria has been admitted to an insane asylum, and her whole relationship with Frank is fabricated in her mind. F and G (Frank and Gloria) are the two main chords in the song Chopsticks--the song she played right before her mother died in a motorcycle accident. Her mother's images, memories, and other ties show up repeatedly throughout the novel.
