Enjoyable, but many of the pieces that I liked most (such as the weaving in of historical details about millennial religious groups and inventors of failed flying machines) I thought could have been done better than they were, and somehow given even a little more weight. And while I started out liking the narrator, I felt his motivations were never really explored and he became a bit of a 'bleh' character by the end. But nonetheless I thought the other characters, and the places in the novel, were interesting to see through his eyes.
