[spoiler alert]

An odd book. It took me a while to get into it, but it has such an intrinsic integrity that it really works. Note the substantial breakdown of gramatical conventions (like punctuation) that parallels the breakdown of society within the story. Unexpectedly, this is a story about relationships set in a future where there are precious few people left to even have relationships. I felt the ending was pale. I really wanted to know from the author if humanity survives this catastrophe or if live on Earth just fades into the night. However, most women I've talked with felt satisfied with the ending because the BOY is safe. I say, who cares about the BOY, what about the SPECIES!? Not really, but you get my drift :)
