I love stories that tell a story with a strong sense of place, and Chulito has it in spades.

I'm not from New York, but I felt the neighborhood and the conflicts and the personalilties and the pressures of fitting in and being true to your upbringing and neighborhood.

Chulito had me screaming at him many times, but he was a strong character that was trying so hard to get a grip on this life that was already spelled out for him.

Kamikazee was a character that just made my heart bleed for him, you could see all the goodness in him and knew circumstance developed him.

Carlos is in my heart, Carlos is me, some of those scenes reminded me of my upbrining and people calling me "weta" (not meant nicely) in my hood and wanting to be what he wanted to be regardless of place and circumstance...but still a part of it all.

This is a story with heart and soul, this is a story with grit and depth, this is a story of being true.
