Jennifer Shanahan's Reviews > His Favorites
This book was short but outstanding. I read it in a few hours because the story drew me in from page 1. Jo is 15 when she and her friends are in an unfortunate accident and her best friend dies. She is blamed for this and it is partly her fault but not only hers.... She is sent to boarding school where she tried to fit in and make friends but it is hard at a cliquey Boston school steeped in tradition and legacies. There poor Jo is taken advantage of by a male teacher and suffers yet more pain. This is her story--it moves around from different points in time but her pain is there and it is sad. IT seems as though she has survived for the most part and lived a decent life thus far after her terrible 15th year, but not much detail is provided about the present (one thing I would have liked). Otherwise, a very interesting emotional story that is well worth your time. Beautifully written. Thanks to Edelwiess+ for the ARC!!!
