really liked it
bookshelves: survival, non-fiction

At the age of 25 Henri Charriere was convicted of a murder he didn't commit and sent off to prison camp on a Caribbean island for a life of hard labor. Risking life and sanity, he made many attempts at escape until he finally succeeded about a decade later. This is the true story of this man's indomitable spirit to be free. His account shows that there is honor among thieves, and he was helped by many different people who recognized his basic integrity. Wonderful survival story -- you'll be rooting for him.
