really liked it

ice-cold logic and ice-cold nordic characters (freeze-queen Smilla, the surprising mechanic) make this one of the best thrillers I read.
In particular Smilla's fondness of math allegories (a hotel with an infinite number of rooms make her appreciate the management care for the guests privacy when they move them all to the next room :). Also, the old lady with the phenomenal memory reminded me of someone I knew.
