The story was fine, but it just didn't capture my interest like I expected it to. I think my main issue was that I didn't much care what happened to Helena or her sisters. The illustrations, however, were quite lovely. I particularly loved the one of Beatrice popping out from Mrs. Cranston's bodice to save the day. That illustration was quite funny. There were some clever moments as well as some funny ones, but this novel wasn't really a standout for me. Still, it will appeal to fans of mouse stories, though it is not as strong as The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Stuart Little, or the first collection of Tumtum and Nutmeg stories.
