it was amazing

This is a collection of stories out of the ordinary. What fascinated me about Rosanne Rabinowitz’s collection was the setting, looking at the spirit of resistance throughout time, from the heretics of medieval Europe to near history, present and near future.
As well as the fine stories, I was struck by the coherence of the book, which danced with the theme of Resonance of emotion, of music and of Revolt expressing what it is to take action and move beyond the constraints of what is expected of us.
The story which wormed into my brain was ‘Bells of the Harelle’ a story blending 14th Century rioting, heresy, and eroticism with humour and scientific mystery.
I found the evocation of history and the transcendent themes in this collection quite fascinating, and I will be seeking out more of Rosanne Rabinowitz’s work in future.
