I suppose it may go without saying, this was a strange, strange book. Upon reading the blurb, I thought it would be a story of two sisters quite literally running away from home and living in the wild, you know, “My Side of the Mountain” by Jean Craighead George style. I was sooo desperately wrong. Vivian was an unreliable narrator whose POV left me confused most of the time. Although her love for Audra was sweet, it left me feeling like there should be something more, much like the rest of the book. I kept waiting for something to happen, some big fight, or for things to escalate badly between Henry and Audra. But no. This is just a book of things happening, told under vague terms by a young girl with little to no personality. I could continue, but then it would just be more of a rant than it is. Overall, I can’t say I loved the book. I gave it two stars because the concept was good, but I can’t say it was carried out well.
