I thought "Secret River" was a tremendous book, but I was slightly disappointed in "Sarah Thornhill". It's a fairly gripping read, but the characterisation is a bit uneven. In particular, without wishing to give the plot away, I was unconvinced that she would behave as she did at the conclusion of the novel.

Nevertheless, its a fine book, and another interesting light on colonial Australia.
