really liked it
bookshelves: hunger-games

I did not like this one as much as the first one. I thought that too much time was spent at the beginning with Katniss and Peeta going back to their "normal" lives. It seemed to drag. Then when they get back to the Hunger Games, it goes too fast. There were so many characters that I felt were not fully developed. They were mentioned but then nothing more happened with them.

I did, however, like the growing conflict between Katniss and the Capitol. It is clear that this is the beginning of a revolution (as a history teacher, I should be able to recognize that). I do wish there was more known about the past of the country. There are bits and pieces mentioned but for the most part we are kept in the dark as readers. I guess since Katniss is also in the dark, this works well as a narrative device.

I look forward to the next one and finding out how it all ends.
