This is a Civil War tale of a young man named Henry Fleming. Henry is concerned whether or not he will have the courage to engage the enemy in combat; the first battle he does, but then he flees the second. Will Henry find the courage to come back and fight the Confederates? This is a story about trusting oneself to do what’s right, no matter how scared you are. This was a good book; it was realistic in that Henry isn't instinctively some hero, but has to work up to it.
