A complex tale of continuing war that hops around the Game of Thrones universe as chapters alternate between different characters. It was a struggle to keep track of who was who. I was reminded once again that Martin is willing to cultivate a character chapter after chapter, book after book and then kill him or her off in an instant. It certainly adds realism to what is an uncertain time in the kingdoms.

I especially appreciate the depth of geographic detail and of the traditions the author has created for the different peoples in the book. I might have added another star, but I grow tired of war.
