I'm noticing a pattern with this author's books: the lack of a predictable 'happily ever after.' It's a nice change.

This is a strange book. I think the heroine is nearly as stupid as the horrid men in her life think she is, but I can't help rooting for her anyway. The things she wants in life are perfectly reasonable, and she should have them-- but why does she keep making such idiotic choices?

Well... it wouldn't be much of a story if she was sensible and wise, I suppose.
