A neighborhood riot is experienced by a young man missing his cat.

This book was interesting, though I was far from loving it. I couldn't help but draw parallels between this story and The Diary of Anne Frank, the story I'm getting ready to teach at school. Both kids are faced with a difficult time outside and so they focus on their cats. It might be interesting to bring into a junior high classroom for this reason.
I generally let my own kids read the picture books with me, but felt like the material presented in this one was too mature and something a kid from small town Wyoming would have difficulty relating to anyway.
I absolutely loved the artwork in this book, though. The textures looked like I should be able to touch them. I liked how they created a border for all of the words and pictures in the book.
