I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

The romance between Baz and Will is very sweet in this story. But the rest of the book left me a little bewildered with a few too many WTF moments.

I kinda like the idea of swan shifters but there is very little world building or explanation of the shifter elements of this story. A murder investigation pops up near the end and thoroughly complicates the book. And the characters: the ex boyfriend, the neighbour, the uncle, the lonely colleague… Too many characters are introduced before either changing dramatically or dominating a couple of scenes before disappearing.

Because there is so much going on, there is little room for character development. Even Baz and Will feel like sketches and minor characters like ex-boyfriend Geoffrey remain cliche types.

There is some heat between Baz and Will and the book probably does work better as erotica than it does as romance. But again, there is too much going on in the story and even the erotic scenes could be developed further.
