Laura Schenone ably deomonstrates the connection between food and family in this chronicle of her search for the kind of ravioli recipe that her Italian grandmother made each Christmas. This quest caused her to discover long lost relatives and to take several trips to Italy.

This is a book about food, but it is also an exploration of family and the importance of heritage, especially of how easily they can be lost.

Several recipes conclude the book.
