it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, realistic, favorites

Heidi lives with her mentally disabled mother in an apartment. Their neighbor has helped raise Heidi since she was a baby. Heidi's mother only has 23 words in her vocabulary. There is one,"soof", that Heidi can't figure out. She decides to go on a road trip in search of the word, and her mother's past.

This is a wonderful book that has a lot of heart. Heidi is not expecting to find what she does, but it allows her to understand her mother better. The characters in this book are well developed and you come to care for all of them through the story.
