There is not much setting as to how or why, but dragons are living in the normal human world, like any animal. Human prefer to stay far from them, since they are quite scary.

Obsidian is of the royal dragon line and is chosen as the next dragon king. To complete his ascension, he must spend the next ten years as a human. His older brother Prometheus is spending the time with him as his mentor to the human world.

Aspen is one of the rare person who is fascinated with dragons, especially taking pictures of them. While hiking in Yellowstone, the young girl came face to face with a black dragon (who of course is Obsidian) and accidentally bound/seal herself to him, even if this is against all rules. Unknow to her, Sid start working at the same café as her. The young girl had a bad experience with hot bad boys, so she automatically clashes with him. Anyhow, they end up bounding over their connection with dragons.

I could have pass the annoying best friend jalousie, which was too immature for my taste, but this is still a YA book.

There is also a mysterious golden dragon that eat up people, which is not supposed to happen since they are peaceful creatures.

So, this book has a lot of clichés, the classic word “mates” is barely use, but the principle of sealing look basically the same. And there is the human with mythical creature love story. But this was so fun, a quick read and a guilty pleasure. This end in a cliffhanger, which was quite predictable, so I guess I will need to read the second one.
