really liked it

WHOA. Reading this book reminding me of the last Harry Potter book - operatic, epic battles punctuated by long periods of no action.

This was an intense reading experience - I couldn't put it down - but I'm not sure what I think of the book itself.

So many characters that I'd become attached to were either not present or very changed. I can't say much more without giving too much away, but I'm interested in discussing the ending in person with anyone who's read it.

The ending is so ambiguous! Is the author giving an ultimately cynical view of the future and human nature, or a hopeful one?

message 2: by Emily (new) - added it

Emily I devoured all three of these last Christmas. They're fantastic, and I'd love to discuss Mockingjay with you, but maybe during Winter Break? (Ours is Dec 23-Jan 8. You?)

Plainy Ha! Sorry my review struck a teacherly tone- it was intended for my students on my other account. It really was a great series, though. My break starts a week earlier - we should catch up!
