A solid fantasy novel that suffered a bit from over complexity. It's nice to have a book that hints at the greater history of the setting beyond the immediate plot. By referencing events in the past that aren't directly covered in the book, or cultures or languages or arts that aren't described in detail, a reader gets the impression of a full world. I feel like, in this book, Huso created too full a world. There was so much hinted at that it not only gave me an impression of a full world, but it left me more than a little confused and lost at times. I loved the beginning to this book, but grew less interested as it went on. I think Huso is a solid writer and I'm sure he'll improve his craft as he continues. I can recommend this as a unique fantasy novel, but not necessarily as a great one.
