This book is a heart warming tale of when Marty and eleven year old boy finds this dog Shiloh who has been abused and mistreated. His father then tells him that he must return the dog to the rightful owner. When it comes down to it he must decide whether to be truthful and return the dog or lie and keep him. He returns the dog once but when Shiloh turns up a sceond time aboused, mistreade and malnurished Marty cannot in good consious send him back. He hides the dog in the woods until he is dicoverd by his parents and by the dogs owner Judd. He now must fight to save the dog form having to go back to the abuse of the owner and the dog that has fallen in love with him.
This book is great from grades 5 and above. The language in this book is an easy read and tells a story that the kids will inderstand. when you read the different chapters in this book the words are so descriptive that as you read you can picture the event that are happening in your head and see what the charcters look like.
