This book seems to be mis-titled. It states it's about Julia and Paul Child and their time in the OSS, but the author spends most of her time discussing McCarthyism in relation to the fall of Jane Foster and her husband when they were indicted as Soviet spies. I also found that there was a lot of speculation and hole-filling due to the fact that the unsealed records were largely redacted and most of the testimony came from people trying to save their own skins and one likely pathological liar. By the end of the book, I felt I hadn't learned much about Paul and Julia, and I didn't feel like I had any real idea of what may or may not have gone on with Jane Foster.
